MLB All-Star Starters

The MLB All-Star Game is just over two weeks away, and the rosters are coming together. Atlanta Braves OF Ronald Acuna Jr. will be a National League starting outfielder and currently leads all players in total votes. Meanwhile, in the American League, Los Angeles Angels’ P/DH Shohei Ohtani leads all AL vote-getters and will be the starting designated hitter.

The Braves have seven finalists, which leads the National League, while the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers lead the American League with five. The next phase of voting to decide on the remaining starters takes place from noon ET on Monday, June 25 through noon ET on Thursday, July 29.

Best of luck, All Stars!

A Hometown Home Run Derby

Julio Rodriguez, who was the runner-up in last year’s Home Run Derby, will give first place another shot, as the Seattle Mariners’ OF confirmed on social media Friday morning that he will take place in the contest at his home ballpark. After last year, the Mariners went to the playoffs, Rodriguez signed an extension and won American League Rookie of the Year.

The Derby takes place on July 10 at T-Mobile Park and will have eight contestants. Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts said that if he makes the All-Star team, he will participate in the Derby as well. So, we know who I’m rooting for.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills general manager and head coach duo of Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott are staying together awhile, as the team announced Friday that their contracts have been extended through the 2027 NFL season.

Going into their seventh season in 2023, Beane and McDermott have led the Bills to three AFC East titles and four consecutive playoff appearances.

2025 Club World Cup

FIFA announced on Friday that the United States will host the 2025 Club World Cup. The Club World Cup is currently an eight-team tournament that includes each continent’s champion. However, starting in 2025, it becomes an event that takes place every four years that will take place over a month and feature 32 teams.

The U.S. will also host or co-host the 2026 men’s World Cup and the 2024 men’s Copa America.

NBA Summer League

The 2023 NBA Draft was held Thursday night, and it looks like fans will get to see the first two picks square off sooner rather than later.

Victor Wembanyama went No. 1 to the San Antonio Spurs and Brandon Miller went to No. 2 to the Charlotte Hornets. The teams play each other to tip off the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas on July 7. The teams will also play each other July 3 at the California Classic in Sacramento.

Summer League in Las Vegas goes from July 7-July 17.
