For the Fangirls: 16 Best Pieces of Advice from our Moms

I lost my mom suddenly when I was young, over 17-years ago. She was a great mother and when you’ve had a great mother, it is impossible to choose just one thing she taught you. She taught me to be a good person, she taught me to be grateful, she taught me to love other people, and she taught me to help others whenever I have the opportunity. Remembering that I am half of her, I try to do things like she would’ve — exhibit loving kindness and be grateful for what I have.

My parents both emphasized the tremendous importance of teamwork and commitment in my brother and me; lessons that have been invaluable throughout every stage of our lives. When I wanted to quit Brownies, a losing soccer team, and even my college education for a brief stint, my Mom was there to support me through the hard times, problem solve through the difficult times, and celebrate in the great times! Her best advice remains, if you commit to being on a team, that is where you must be, because winners don’t quit and quitters don’t win! For that, I’m eternally grateful.

I created Fangirl Sports Network as a place for female sports fans to follow their favorite teams with content and coverage that speaks directly to females. It started with one and then eight and now 32 NFL Fangirls and 15 NBA Fangirls.
