She Inspires Me Because: Bethany lost her arm during a shark attack back in 2003. She didn’t let that injury ever set her back. She continued to surf and came back to win the 2004 NSSA National Competition in Australia. Since then, she has won countless championships and continues to inspire young women to follow their hearts and dreams no matter what setbacks you encounter.
Fun Fact: Bethany took part in the Rell Sun Menehune event on Oahu when she was only 8 years old. Despite the fact that she was too young to compete, she won both the long and short board divisions.
